Anger Disorders

Understand your anger before it costs you more.

Anger is a normal emotion, but when it shows up too fast, too often or too strongly, it can damage relationships, work and your own health. Our anger management care in Chicago helps you understand what drives your anger and build the skills to respond instead of react.

How treatment works

  • Understanding triggers: We look at the situations, thoughts and body signals that come before an outburst.
  • Skills you can use right away: Calming techniques, communication tools and ways to step back before things escalate.
  • Treating what sits underneath: Anger is often tied to depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD or substance use, and we treat those too.
  • Medication when it helps: For some people, medication reduces irritability and makes the skills easier to use.

Signs it may be time to reach out

  • Arguments that escalate quickly and leave you feeling out of control
  • People close to you say they feel on edge around you
  • Irritability that shows up at work, in traffic or at home most days
  • Physical signs such as a racing heart or clenched jaw before you even notice you are angry

You do not have to keep apologizing for the same moments. Change is possible, and it starts with one honest conversation.

Getting started

Your first visit is a full evaluation with one of our psychiatric nurse practitioners. We listen to your story, review your history and current symptoms, and agree on a plan you understand before you leave. Visits are available in Chicago and by secure telehealth anywhere in Illinois, and follow-up appointments keep the plan on track as things change. You can request an appointment through our online booking page or call our office with any questions first.
